Overview & Stats

Trobbio - The flamboyant butterfly boss

Trobbio is one of the most memorable mandatory bosses in Silksong - a flamboyant butterfly showman who believes his dazzling performances can save Pharloom from the Haunting. He's essentially the game's theatrical diva, complete with fireworks, tornado spins, and dramatic entrances from beneath the stage.

Attack Damage

2-3 Masks

Stagger

Pro Tip: Contact damage with Trobbio only deals 1 mask, while his attacks deal 2-3 masks. If you can't avoid an explosion, sometimes it's better to dash into him and take the contact hit for brief invincibility.

Lore & Background

Trobbio is one of the bugs who escaped the Haunting that plagues Pharloom. Also known as "Master of the Stage," "the Brush," and "the Voice," this fame-hungry performer roams the kingdom seeking new audiences for his theatrical productions.

"His desire to see Pharloom saved may have been well intentioned, but he seemed quite happy for others to die upon the stage."

  • Bestiary Entry

Interestingly, Trobbio is named after his voice actor, Matt Trobbiani (the creator of Hacknet). In the Italian localization, he's called "Farfleto" - a clever portmanteau combining butterfly with a reference to Hamlet, perfectly capturing his dramatic nature.

Fun Fact: If you play the Needolin instrument during the fight, Trobbio will actually pause mid-battle to sing along. It's both amusing and a potential cheese strategy if you need a moment to heal.

Location & Access

The Stage - Trobbio's arena

Trobbio awaits in The Stage, a sub-area between the Choral Chambers and Whispering Vaults. Getting to him requires completing a specific sequence of events:

  1. First, defeat the Clockwork Dancers boss
  2. Drop down into the Cogwork Core
  3. Navigate through the Whispering Vaults
  4. Find the right-side entrance to The Stage
  5. Activate the lever to unlock the Stage Door from inside

Nearest Bench: The closest bench is in Grand Bellway. Before fighting Trobbio, open the shortcut gate on the left side of The Stage arena - it connects to Choral Chamber and creates a quick path back if you die.

Attack Patterns

Trobbio's moveset is built around theatrical flair - expect lots of spinning, explosions, and dramatic entrances. Here's everything he'll throw at you:

Wondrous Whirlwind

Trobbio spins rapidly and bounces off the arena walls, releasing 2 projectiles when he stops. He's immune to side damage during this attack.

Counter: Jump over him and pogo on his head for 2 free hits as he bounces. Don't try to parry - the i-frames won't save you.

Fabulous Fireworks

When Trobbio fully spreads his wings, he creates 5 explosive circles across the arena. The safe zones are visible before detonation.

Counter: Watch the floor for unmarked areas and stand there. Walking away usually works since the explosions don't cover the entire stage.

Smoke Bombs

Throws 3 bouncing bombs that explode into either horizontal or vertical fire pillars. The smoke pattern before explosion tells you the direction.

Counter: Watch the smoke trails - horizontal smoke means horizontal explosion. Position yourself perpendicular to avoid damage.

Floorboard Shuffle

Trobbio's signature trick - he dives beneath the stage and travels underground. Watch the floorboards pop up to track his movement; he emerges where they stop.

Counter: Track the moving floorboards and position yourself on the opposite side of where he'll emerge. Get ready to punish his recovery.

Flourish & Flutter

Short dashing movements and aerial repositioning. These are relatively safe but can catch you off-guard between bigger attacks.

Counter: These are punish windows. Dash away from flourishes and use flutter repositions to close distance.

Phase Breakdown

Phase 1 (700 - 350 HP)

Trobbio uses his standard moveset: Whirlwind, Fireworks, Smoke Bombs, and Floorboard Shuffle. The pace is manageable and there's plenty of breathing room between attacks.

  • Focus on learning attack tells
  • Use tornado passes as your main damage windows
  • Conserve Silk for Phase 2

Phase Transition (350 HP)

Trobbio cries out his own name dramatically and the stage lights shift. This is your cue that things are about to get more intense.

Phase 2 (350 - 0 HP)

Trobbio gains a devastating new attack: Pyrotechnics. He descends underground and launches 5 staggered fire pillars before bursting from the fifth one.

  • All existing attacks become faster and more frequent
  • Fire pillars require constant movement
  • His emergence from the 5th pillar is punishable

Stagger Mechanic

After 15 consecutive hits, the stage lights turn red and Trobbio slumps over, dazed. This is your opportunity to unleash your most powerful abilities - use Silkspear or nail arts for massive damage.

Strategy & Tips

Tools

  • Sting Shard - Deals passive damage if Trobbio flies into it
  • Curveclaw - Hit him while he's airborne

Crests

  • Wanderer's Crest - Movement speed helps dodge fireworks
  • Witch Crest - Extended Silk for survivability

General Tips

Pogo the Whirlwind: This is your safest, most consistent damage window. Jump over Trobbio when he starts spinning and pogo on his head as he bounces between walls.

Health Over Greed: Trobbio gives you plenty of healing opportunities between attacks. Don't get greedy for damage - prioritize staying topped off, especially before Phase 2.

Track the Floorboards: The moving floorboards are your key to predicting where Trobbio will emerge. Always be watching the floor, not the ceiling.

Upgrade Your Needle: It's recommended to have at least 2 needle upgrades before this fight. The extra damage significantly shortens both phases.

Rewards

Claw Mirror

This blue Tool creates dazzling light that damages enemies whenever Hornet uses the Bind skill to heal. It's a great defensive/offensive hybrid - you're healing AND dealing damage at the same time.

Vaultkeeper's Melody

Defeating Trobbio also grants access to the Vaultkeeper's Melody, advancing the main story and opening new areas.

Achievement: "Tragedian"

Defeat Trobbio (15G / Bronze Trophy)

Post-Battle Secret

After defeating Trobbio, he dramatically "dies" on stage. But if you leave and return, you'll find him performing an elaborate recovery act! Strike him while he's "dead" and he'll cry out indignantly. Classic theater kid behavior.

Wrapping Up

Trobbio is a challenging but fair mandatory boss that tests your pattern recognition and aerial skills. His theatrical moveset might seem overwhelming at first, but once you learn to pogo the whirlwind and track the floorboards, he becomes surprisingly manageable.

The Claw Mirror reward is genuinely useful for the rest of your journey, making Bind heals both defensive and offensive. And honestly, getting to watch this dramatic butterfly fake his own death after the fight is reward enough.

The show must go on - but this time, you're the star!
