How to Find Secret Rooms

Secret rooms are hidden behind several types of concealment:

  • Breakable walls — Strike walls that have slightly different textures or colors. The crack will be subtle but visible if you look carefully.
  • Fake floors — Some floors can be broken by using the Dive Attack or ground pound. Look for slightly discolored tiles.
  • Hidden passages — Walk through what appears to be a solid wall. These often have a slight visual shimmer.
  • Ability-gated secrets — Areas that require specific abilities (Clawline, Dive, Float) to access.
  • Puzzle-locked rooms — Require solving environmental puzzles or hitting switches in a specific order.

Pro Tip: If you see a room on the map that you can't figure out how to enter, there's likely a breakable wall or hidden passage nearby.

Secret Room Checklist Tips

  1. Strike every wall — Develop the habit of hitting walls as you walk past them, especially at dead ends.

  2. Look up constantly — Many secrets are in ceilings. Breakable ceilings are one of the most commonly missed secret types.

  3. Revisit areas with new abilities — Many secrets require abilities you don't have on your first visit. Keep a mental note of suspicious locations.

  4. Use the map — Unexplored room indicators on the map often point to secret areas you haven't found yet.

  5. Listen for audio cues — Some hidden rooms produce faint sounds (humming, dripping water, wind) that hint at their presence.

  6. Check behind bosses — Almost every boss arena has a secret room behind or below it.

  7. 25 for the achievement — You only need 25 of the 60+ secrets for the "Secret Keeper" achievement, so don't stress about finding every single one on your first playthrough.
