Rosary Beads in Hollow Knight Silksong

What Are Rosary Beads?

Rosary Beads (commonly called Rosaries) are the primary currency in Hollow Knight: Silksong, replacing Geo from the original Hollow Knight. You'll need Rosaries for everything — unlocking Bellway fast travel stations, purchasing tools and maps from merchants, and accessing certain locked areas.

Unlike Geo, Rosaries come in two varieties: red beads (worth 1 each) and silver beads (worth 5 each). They drop from defeated enemies, can be found in hidden stashes throughout Pharloom, and are rewarded for completing quests.

What Happens When You Die?

When Hornet falls in battle, you lose a portion of your carried Rosaries. A Silk Shade appears at your death location containing your lost beads. Return to that spot and defeat the Shade to recover them. If you die again before recovering, those Rosaries are lost permanently.

Pro Tip: Spend your Rosaries before attempting difficult sections. There's no benefit to hoarding currency you might lose.

Best Farming Locations

Early Game: Moss Grotto Circuit

Estimated yield: 80-120 Rosaries per run (3-4 minutes)

The Moss Grotto is your first accessible farming spot. From the Bench near the entrance:

  1. Head right through the main corridor, defeating all Mosskin enemies
  2. Drop down to the lower path and clear the Moss Crawlers
  3. Loop back around to the Bench
  4. Rest to respawn all enemies and repeat

This is slow but safe. Perfect for buying your first tools from Shakra.

Mid Game: Greymoor Pilgrim Route

Estimated yield: 200-350 Rosaries per run (4-5 minutes)

This is widely considered the best farming spot in the game. Located just outside the Halfway Home bench in Greymoor:

  1. Exit the Halfway Home to the right
  2. Defeat all Pilgrims in the corridor (they drop 15-25 beads each)
  3. Continue right until you reach the dead end
  4. Return to the Halfway Home bench and rest
  5. Repeat

The entrance on the right side is locked initially, but once you work your way around and enter from the left, you can press a switch to open the locked door for fast, easy access.

Equip the Magnetite Brooch to automatically collect beads after kills — this significantly speeds up each run.

Mid Game: Bone Bottom Market Loop

Estimated yield: 150-250 Rosaries per run (3-4 minutes)

From the Bone Bottom bench:

  1. Head down into the market caverns
  2. Clear the merchant guards and armored beetles
  3. Break all destructible objects (barrels, crates) for bonus beads
  4. Return to bench and repeat

Destructible objects respawn on rest, making this more varied than pure enemy farming.

Late Game: Deep Docks Gauntlet

Estimated yield: 400-600 Rosaries per run (5-6 minutes)

Once you reach the Deep Docks, enemies here drop significantly more Rosaries:

  1. Start from the Deep Docks bench
  2. Clear the dockworker enemies heading east
  3. Defeat the Armored Sentinels (50+ beads each)
  4. Return and rest

Higher risk due to tougher enemies, but the payout is worth it.

End Game: High Halls Speed Farm

Estimated yield: 600-900 Rosaries per run (5-7 minutes)

The most profitable farming spot, but requires near-endgame access:

  1. From the High Halls bench, head right
  2. Use Silk abilities to quickly chain-kill the Hall Guards
  3. The elite enemies here drop 40-80 beads each
  4. Full loop nets massive returns

Hidden Rosary Stashes

Throughout Pharloom, you'll find large Rosary caches hidden in the environment. These are one-time pickups worth significant amounts:

What to Buy First

Prioritize your Rosary spending in this order:

Priority 1: Essential Navigation (360 Rosaries)

  • Compass Pin (60) — Shows your position on the map
  • Bench Pins (60) — Marks all discovered benches on the map
  • Bellway Pins (60) — Marks all discovered Bellway stations
  • Maps from Shakra (~180) — Buy each area's map as you explore

Priority 2: Quality of Life Tools (350 Rosaries)

  • Magnetite Brooch (200) — Auto-collects Rosaries after kills
  • Cartographer's Quill (150) — Auto-fills map as you explore

Priority 3: Bellway Stations (360-480 Rosaries)

Most Bellway stations cost 30-60 Rosaries to activate. Unlock them as you discover them — fast travel saves enormous time.

Priority 4: Combat Tools (700+ Rosaries)

  • Healing Cocoon (400) — Passive healing
  • Binding Bolts (300) — Enemy stun throwable
  • Other tools from merchants as needed

Priority 5: Simple Keys (500 each)

Simple Keys unlock special doors hiding tools, mask shards, and secret areas. Buy them when you can afford the investment.

Rosary-Boosting Strategies

Equip the Reaper Crest

The Reaper Crest's special ability generates extra Silk from enemies, and certain tool combinations can convert that into more effective farming runs. The heavy attacks also one-shot weaker enemies, speeding up farm routes.

Use the Magnetite Brooch

This cannot be overstated. Without it, many beads bounce into pits or hard-to-reach spots. The Brooch magnetizes them toward Hornet automatically.

Break Everything

Destructible objects (barrels, crates, hanging lanterns, bone piles) often contain 5-15 Rosaries each. Make it a habit to strike everything in sight.

Complete Side Quests (Wishes)

Many of the 54 side quests reward Rosaries in addition to tools and other items. Some quests reward 500+ Rosaries for relatively simple tasks.

Don't Forget the Colosseum

The Colosseum trials reward large Rosary payouts upon completion. Even repeating earlier trials can be profitable.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  1. Hoarding Rosaries before bosses — Spend before you fight. You can always farm more, but you can't recover lost beads if you die twice.

  2. Ignoring the Magnetite Brooch — Buy it as soon as you can. It pays for itself within 20 minutes of play.

  3. Skipping Bellway activation costs — 30-60 Rosaries feels expensive early on, but fast travel saves hours of backtracking.

  4. Not checking ceilings and walls — Many Rosary stashes are in hidden spots you'll walk right past without looking up.

  5. Farming before having the Brooch — Farm efficiency roughly doubles with the Magnetite Brooch equipped. Get it first, then farm.
