Overview
Crawfather is an optional Act 3 boss in Hollow Knight: Silksong, found in the Craw Lake area of Greymoor. This crustacean patriarch is a physical brawler with a massive metallic beak that he uses for devastating melee attacks. He's a straightforward but hard-hitting boss — think less puzzle, more pure combat fundamentals. Crawfather rewards players who master spacing and punish timing.

How to Reach Crawfather
Crawfather is located in Craw Lake within Greymoor:
- Progress to Act 3
- Obtain the Craw Summons — a key item needed to unlock the Craw Door
- Travel to Greymoor and locate the Craw Door in Craw Lake
- Use the Craw Summons to unlock the door
- Crawfather's arena lies beyond
The Craw Door cannot be opened without the Craw Summons, so make sure you've collected this item during your exploration.
Attack Patterns
Beak Slam
Visual Cue: Crawfather rears up and raises his metallic beak.
A powerful overhead slam that crashes his beak into the ground. The impact zone is directly in front of him. Jump or dash to the side, then punish during the recovery. This is his most telegraphed attack and your best damage window.
Beak Thrust
A forward jabbing motion with his metallic beak. Faster than the slam but with shorter range. Use your jump and dash abilities to get out of the way. Don't try to trade hits — his damage output is higher than yours.
Claw Swipe
Crawfather sweeps with his massive claws in a wide arc. The hitbox extends further than you'd expect. Jump over the sweep and pogo off his shell for damage.
Charge Rush
Crawfather charges forward, covering significant ground. Jump over him and slash downward for pogo damage. He has a brief pause at the end of the charge where you can get in additional hits.
Burrow
Crawfather digs into the ground and erupts from a different location. Watch for debris/dust rising from the ground — it marks where he'll emerge. Position yourself away from the telltale signs and prepare to punish when he surfaces.
Shell Shield (Phase 2)
In Phase 2, Crawfather periodically retreats into his shell, becoming temporarily invulnerable. Wait it out and don't waste tools or Silk. When he emerges, he usually follows up with a predictable Beak Slam.
Battle Strategy
Spacing Is Everything
Crawfather is a melee-focused boss, and the fight revolves around maintaining proper distance. Stay just outside his beak range, bait his Beak Slam, and dash in to punish. Don't stay close — his Claw Swipe catches greedy players.
Jump and Pogo
Several of Crawfather's attacks are ground-based. Staying airborne with jumps and pogo bounces off his shell is one of the safest ways to deal damage. His shell is a perfect pogo surface.
Phase 2: Patience
When he shells up, don't waste resources. Wait for the Shell Shield to drop and the follow-up Beak Slam, then capitalize on the long recovery window. This phase is about discipline — rush in too early and you'll get caught by his emergence attack.
Burrow Tracking
The Burrow attack can catch you off-guard if you're not watching the ground. As soon as Crawfather digs in, shift your attention to the arena floor. The dust/debris markers give you 1-2 seconds of warning before he erupts.
